In Hell, the terrifying Lord Desecrator has wrested control of the Infernal Realms from Lucifer himself after a savage war over possession of the all-powerful Key To Hell; but his chief general -- Dominator, the demonic Lord of Dead Rock Stars -- steals the key for himself, unhappy about the idea of Desecrator ruling Hell for the rest of eternity, and goes on the run...

It is the job of the Grand Order of Undertakers to make sure that the dead are buried - and stay that way. At the Happy Passage Funeral Home in London, Dr. Payne and his assistants adhere to time-honoured burial traditions, making sure humanity's corpses don't become vessels for renegade spirits from Hell. Payne's mischevious daughters - Tara, Molly and Fina - help their dad around the place, and also play in the rock band CrowCut. Keen to mix a little magic into their careers, the girls sneak a look in the music section of their father's library and find details of the legendary Lost Chord...

Playing the chord during a rehearsal in the basement of the funeral home, the girls accidentally tear a hole between Earth and Hell, releasing a horde of hungry skele-demons, which attack them. The Chord has also released the fugitive demon lord Dominator, who in true genie tradition, must obey those who have released him. Dominator battles and defeats the demons, but finds that he cannot re-enter hell - there's no 'reversal' spell! Dr. Payne is less than pleased with the idea of an Infernal Lord taking up residence at his Funeral Home, as it'll become a magnet for supernatural activity. Dominator offers to protect his establishment and his three daughters if he can use the catacombs to work on a sonic formula to get back to his own dimension.

The girls are pleased -- Dominator agrees to join their band... Dominator has also brought a few of his accoutrements with him: his car, the Dragula, and the Ghost Train, now installed in the London Underground station directly below the Home at the station where corpses are normally delivered for funeral preparations. The three other members of Dominator's order, Lady Violator, Decimator and Extricator arrive on Earth, sent by their master Lord Desecrator to bring Dominator and the Key back to Hell. They attack the three girls, but Dominator steps in, honour-bound to protect them. Desecrator's demons are not pleased, and battle lines are drawn...
